Milward Funeral Directors, Lexington Kentucky

COVID-19 Update

The families we serve are always our top priority. During confusing and concerning times such as the current COVID-19 event, we want to share our plans with you. We want to assure you that we are all in this together.

First, we are closely monitoring and following all guidelines from the CDC, Selected Independent Funeral Homes, National Funeral Directors Association, Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, as well as all local and state emergency services. It is required that we reduce the size of all social gatherings. The latest recommendation for funeral homes is that we can conduct public services with 33 percent occupancy.

We have set in place new measures to help protect and accommodate the elderly, sick and members of the public. We will make every effort to accommodate families in making arrangements and conducting services in any capacity needed to ensure their safety and comfort while honoring their loved one.

In order to avoid compromising the health of our visitors, we are continuing to lead the way by offering to host live recording of funeral services which can be posted on each family’s obituary page. We also have online guest books available and the option to call our offices for us to add your name to the register books. Family- attended chapel, graveside burial, and cremation services will continue at our firm for those in need. We now offer several compliant funeral packages that meet the changing guidelines/requirements from the government and regulating authorities.

Exterior signage at our funeral chapels state that those with flu-like symptoms are not to enter our facilities. We have placed reminders throughout our funeral homes to ask that physical contact, such as shaking hands, be limited with family members. We have enacted extra cleaning throughout the day, in all of our public areas.

We will post any relevant updates that we receive from the CDC and national funeral associations to our website to keep our client families informed. We will follow all new guidelines that are directed as the need arises.

Again, our family and staff are here to serve, protect and honor each family as we have been for over 195 years. If you have any questions or concerns please feel to call any of our locations.

Sincerely,
The Family and Staff of Milward Funeral Directors: *Broadway *Southland *Man O War

At this time, the CDC states that decedents with COVID-19 may be buried or cremated according to the family’s preferences. They state that there is currently no known risk associated with being in the same room at a funeral home with the body of someone who has died of COVID-19. However, the CDC states that people may consider not touching the body of someone who has died of COVID-19.
