Nancy Rebecca Swisher passed away on April 22, 2021 in Lexington, KY.  Nancy was born in Bedford, IN to Lloyd A. and Katherine Elizabeth Murray Malott.  In 1948, Nancy graduated from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing in Indianapolis, IN.  Her first job as an RN was in South Bend, IN caring for polio patients who were in Iron Lungs.  While working at the hospital, Nancy met Gene Swisher, who was attending Notre Dame.  Nancy and Gene were married in the chapel at Notre Dame on October 18, 1952.  They lived in Columbus, OH, and New Platz, NY before moving with IBM to Lexington, KY in 1957.  Nancy worked as an RN at Shriner’s Hospital for Children for many years.  Nancy was a long-time member of the Cathedral of Christ the King where she was a member of the choir.  Nancy was a member of the Homemakers Club, Christ Renews His Parish and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.  Nancy was gifted in handwork, sewing and needlework.  She enjoyed creating beautiful pieces of needlework to share with others.

 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Anne J. Malott, Richard Malott, Carolyn Buchanan, Andrew Malott and Clifford Wayne Malott, and by her beloved son, Eugene Harold Swisher, Jr.

 

Nancy is survived by her husband of 68 years, Eugene Harold Swisher, Sr., and her much loved children, Robert Lloyd Swisher (Debbie), Mark Andrew Swisher (Sherry), Thomas Richard Swisher (Lynn) and Rebecca Ann Sagan (Ken).  Also, Samuel David, who Nancy thought of as a son, and her siblings, Mary Jane Delinger and Judith E. Jones.

 

Nancy is also survived by her grandchildren, Will Robert Swisher, Anne Marie Swisher, Joseph Andrew Swisher (Casey Passmore), Nicholas Adam Swisher, Lindsey Kathryn Steward (Joshua), Jeffrey Thomas Swisher, Krista Elizabeth Citron (Ben), Jennifer Rebecca Creekmore (Byron), and Katharine Marie Sagan-Buttleman (Tyler).  She is survived by her great grandchildren, Hanna Michelle Swisher, Carleigh Alexis Jackson, Lillian Michelle Citron, Phillip Eugene Citron, Cassidy Rebecca Creekmore, Lucas Andrew Swisher Passmore, Bradley Scott Creekmore and Elizabeth June Buttleman.  She also has many dear nieces and nephews.

 

A funeral mass will be on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 11:00 in the morning at the Cathedral of Christ the King, 299 Colony Blvd., Lexington, KY.  Visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 am up until the time of the service.  Burial will be immediately following the funeral at Calvary Cemetery, 874 W. Main Street, Lexington, KY.  Covid restrictions masks and social distancing required.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christians in Community Service, c/o CTK Cathedral, 299 Colony Blvd., Lexington, KY 40502.
