Judith Kallmeyer DeHoag, age 73, departed this life on Saturday, April 24, 2021 in Lexington, KY.
Judy was born in Cincinnati, OH to John (Jack) (d. 1979) and Marjorie (Kromme) (d. 2020) Kallmeyer on September 11, 1947. Growing up, Judy had a passion for fast cars, water skiing, horseback riding, and music. She enjoyed all of these and more with her three younger sisters. After graduating high school, Judy’s sense of adventure took her to Memphis, TN where she managed to live across the street from Elvis at Graceland and work for the IRS. A tank of gas from Memphis to Cincinnati would only get Judy as far as Bowling Green, KY, where she eventually laid down roots. It was here she started her own tax accounting and bookkeeping business, met her husband Fred, became a mother of two, and began raising a family. Much more than an amazing mother to her own children, Judy also was the school homeroom mom, field trip chaperone, Band Mom to all, and volunteer for numerous activities throughout her kids’ youth. Judy was very proud of her children and enjoyed watching them as they went off to college, started careers and began raising families of their own. As much as she loved being a mother, some of Judy's greatest moments were spent loving and spoiling her five grandkids.
Judy is survived by her husband Fred DeHoag; son Chris (Becky) DeHoag and daughter Michelle (Duke) Derdock; grandchildren Kate and Lydie DeHoag, Salem, Lincoln, and Brody Derdock; sisters Susan Young, Donna (late Robert) Salak, and Jackie (John) Merritt III; brother-in-law Robert (late Deborah) DeHoag; and aunt to Holly (Joe) Huwel, Nicole (Paul) Randell, Stephanie Salak, Morgan (Taylor) Clem, Courtney Merritt, John Merritt IV, and Chuck (Anna) DeHoag.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 1:00pm at Second Presbyterian Church located at 460 East Main Street, Lexington, KY 40507. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
