Stella Keener Kidd
Tuesday 8th of November 1949 - Sunday 9th of May 2021
Stella Keener Kidd, wife, mother, photographic artist, gardener, and humanitarian, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021 of cancer, in her home in Lexington, Kentucky.
Stella was born November 8, 1949 in New Boston, near Portsmouth in Southeast Ohio. Her earliest memories were of growing up in a farming family, before tragedies left her orphaned. In Stella's teenage years, she joined the Gleim family of Wheelersburg, Ohio, a family bond that has continued through the generations.
In 1976, Stella married Mark Kidd, and over the last 45 years the two raised a family and built a successful business in Lexington, Mark Kidd Studios. As their business prospered and the couple traveled the world teaching photography, Stella also dedicated herself to her community. All were welcome at Stella's home and table, not just her own children.
Stella believed not just in philanthropic support for those most in need, but also direct service as modeled by Jesus. Stella's Christian faith was a powerful force in her life, and she was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Lexington. Stella passed from this world confident that she would reunite with her family in heaven.
Stella is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Bettie Gleim and sister Mary Alice Bianco. Stella is survived by her husband Mark Kidd; sister Sharon Goodie; brother David Gleim; her children Mark W. Kidd, Christina Stevens, and Adam Kidd; and their families.
Visitation will be held in Lexington from 1pm-3:30pm Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Milward-Southland, 391 Southland Drive. The funeral service will be held afterward at 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charitable organization Stella founded and served for many years, Church Under The Bridge. Please mail checks to: Church Under The Bridge, PO Box 11805, Lexington, KY 40578.
I am so saddened to hear of Mrs. Kidds passing. I was one of her nurses and took care of her many nights in the hospital. I think of her often. She was such a bright light in my life even in her last days. I will never forget her, that cheeky smile or those witty comebacks. No matter how bad she felt she always met us with a smile and some encouraging words after a long shift. She kept us laughing. I could listen to her stories for hours, she just had a way of captivating you. She was truly one of a kind. I hope you find comfort in knowing she no longer suffers, but know that she fought as hard as she could for her family. I will never forget one night we all ran in worried about her, she perked up real quick and said “What is going on ?! Did you guys just wanna come to my party” I know Ms Kidd is partying it up in heaven right now! I’m truly lucky to have known her. I will be praying for you all.

Words cannot express how much we love and cherish Stella. Her faith, wisdom, and friendship mean the world to us. Though it is hard to think of her being gone from our presence, we know that we will see her again! I am thankful for that precious truth. Heaven is her home...because of her sincere and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior. I'll miss our long talks, our prayer time together and our time of laughter and joy. I am thankful that my dear friend is no longer in pain. I am thankful that her body has been completely restored and healed. Mark, Markus, Christina and Adam....we love you. You are an amazing family. Thank you for taking such good care of my sister/friend. We will continue to pray for peace, strength and comfort in the coming days. God bless each of you.
Those who knew Stella will feel a void in their hearts to hear of her passing. Stella made everyone feel like family. Her family was her true blessing and in our last conversation she asked that Mark be supported by his friends. Her thoughts were always of others. Her warmth was always on display. She fought her cancer like a tigress. She will be truly missed.
The loss of Stella is a loss of a wonderful friend and fellow photographer. Stella was one of the most hard working ladies I know and with a heart of an angel. Her photographer family in the Kentucky Professional Photographers has lost a family member. She and Mark are loved by very much by so many.

The loss of Stella is a loss for the whole neighborhood. She was so friendly, kind, and full of life. We will miss the parties she had in her backyard. She made everyone feel so welcome. I pray that her family will get a small amount of comfort by knowing how much she was loved by everyone who was blessed to know her.
