Carol Nancy Marheine, age 96, of Lexington Kentucky, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021, at Mayfair Village Retirement Community.
Carol was born April 2, 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the daughter of the late Emil and Helen Macha. Carol graduated from high school in Cleveland, Ohio. She attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor Michigan, and graduated with a degree in geology. At the University of Michigan she met her husband of 70 years, Edward Arthur Marheine, and married him on October 15, 1949.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Edward: her parents Emil and Helen: one grandson, Andrew, son of Carol’s son Robert: one grandson, Benjamin, son of Carol’s daughter Cynthia: and one great granddaughter, Ruby, daughter of Carol’s granddaughter Cortney. Carol is survived by her three children and their spouses and special friends: Robert and special friend Judy (in Manitowoc Wisconsin), Constance and husband Michael (in St Louis Missouri), and Cynthia and husband David (in New Berlin, Wisconsin). Also five grandchildren: Robert’s children Nicole (Tom) Meissner, Adam, and Caleb (Crystal) - and Cynthia’s children Cortney (Jason) Mazurek, and Katherine (Michael) Loppnow-Rayle. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren: Alida and Anya (Andrew), Jackson (Nicole), Vanessa (Adam), Olivia and Gibson (Cortney), and Nico (Katherine).
Carol devoted her life to raising her children. She was a member of PEO, and a member of the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority. After her children moved out of the house on their own, she worked at the Brookfield Police Department as a secretary. Carol enjoyed music, reading, collecting knick-knacks, going to the Horse Park in Lexington, square dancing, and just meeting and getting to know people in general.
There will be no Memorial Service for Carol. Carol will be cremated, and buried at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
