William "Bill" Coates Meeks, 61, passed away the
morning of Friday, September 10, 2021. Bill was born in Corbin, Kentucky to the
late Jack Fox Meeks and Rachel (Coates) Meeks on June 23, 1960.
Bill
was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where he received a Bachelor’s
degree in Marketing. While at Eastern, Bill was a member of Kappa Alpha
Fraternity. Bill devoted most of his life to his career. He was employed for
over 30 years with Begley Drug/Rite Aid Pharmacy, as store manager. Currently,
Bill was employed by 5 Below, as Merchandising Manager.
Bill
was a very caring, thoughtful and generous person, who would give someone the
shirt off his back. He had the love for
real estate. When Bill wasn’t working,
he enjoyed visiting his mother, taking walks, reading, and every year looked
forward to going to his favorite beach, Isle of Palms, SC, to visit his real
good friend Kelle Bellamy, with his sister, Shelley.
Left to cherish his memory is his mother, Rachel Meeks;
sister, Shelley (Bill) Maxwell, and brother, Thomas Meeks (Cheryl) and his
beloved cat, Lilly. He has three cousins
Alan Coates, Diana Coates Holt and Amy Meeks Magruder. He was preceded in death
by his father, Jack in 1980 and a nephew William Jack Maxwell.
Visitation
for Bill will be from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 14th at Milward -
Man O'War located at 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington. Funeral service will begin at
10:00 am with Rev. Tommy Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Rest
Haven Cemetery in Corbin, KY at 2:00 pm.
In honor of his legacy, Bill’s family would like memorial
donations directed to American Heart Association and Lexington Humane Society.
