GERTRUDE “TRUDY” DYER, 92, of Lexington, KY., entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 13, 2021, at Baptist Health Medical Center, Lexington.  A graveside services will be conducted at Lexington Cemetery, Lexington, KY, on Friday, September 17, 2021, at 1:00 PM with the Rev. James E. Heard officiating. 


Trudy, a retired registered nurse, was born November 11, 1928, in Lexington, KY, a daughter of the late Virginia Sutherland and Edmund Atwell. In addition to her parents, Trudy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julian M. Dyer, Jr.; a stepfather, John C. “Jack” Sutherland; and a nephew, Michael Filmore. A faithful Christian prayer warrior, giver, and lover of people, she was a long-time member of Palomar Baptist Church. Trudy is survived by her son James E. Dyer of Lexington, KY; and her daughter, Tracy E. Bowyer (Lyle) of Lexington, KY; one sister, Linda Lyon, of Lexington, KY; two granddaughters, Jaimie McCormick (Matthew) of Huntington, WV, and Lacy Dunlap of Lexington, KY; one niece, Sarah Lyon, of Lexington, KY. Also surviving are one great-granddaughter, Emory Dunlap of Huntington, WV, and one great-grandson, Charles McCormick, of Huntington, WV.


 A special thanks to Bluegrass Care Navigators and the Baptist Health 5-North Team for making Trudy’s last days so comfortable. In lieu of flowers the family asks that “happy memories” be shared as Trudy requested.

Trudy was always smiling and full of humor! She was the only person that I have ever seen that could lay on her back on the floor and use her feet to rearrange the furniture. I am certain that she will be missed by everyone that knew her. You will forever be loved and missed greatly.
