Deepest condolences to Pam Ross, John's darling wife whom he loved ardently for more than 20 years! My relationship with this smart, spiritual, fun-loving man of true integrity began almost 80 years ago at old U-High. He was a fine athlete, good student, full of vim, vigor and competitive spirit, but he was an even better close friend. Honest as the day is long, John adored his Mom, "Mother Ross", as he referred to her, and close friends like Bill Lickert, a neighbor with whom he shared the excitement of the "101 Club" and its Prayer Group. As a farmer, John was a successful Dairy Cattle entrepreneur for many years and was present buying and selling cattle in Pennsylvania in his eighties when he died. He fiercely fought the good fight for his life when cancer cruelly appeared. Never complaining during the long struggle, he showed his courage by simply being himself, smiling, kidding around and expressing his love for all those who knew him. We'll not soon forget that twinkle in his eye. Rest easy, dear and faithful friend; and, hopefully, we'll soon meet again on the other side. Love, Candy & Graddy Johnson, Lexington

My sympathy and condolences to his sweet wife Pam and family. He has been our wonderful, kind, sweet, caring neighbor for many years. They always checked on us and seen if he could do anything for us. Even when he was sick. He always kept eye out for me and our property when my husband was over at lake. Best neighbors we have ever had down here in 25 years. He will be greatly missed just stopping to talk for a bit daily checking his mail driving by house. R.I.P John❤ and prayers for Pam🙏

I met John back in the eighties when I was selling him holstein dairy heifers. He was not only a customer but a friend and a mentor. He will be greatly missed in the holstein business. Praying for the family during this difficult time.

I knew both John and his brother, Clay. John was a delight. He loved cast iron toys and his red hair hinted at how full of life he was. John's brother, Clay, was very academic and a bit of a stodge. John was full of life and saw life from many angles. Although I lost connect with him for years, I did see him at the U-High fiftieth reunion and he was grand as ever. Bless him and bless his family.
