Charles Ray
Short, 68, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, October 20, 2021.
Charlie was born in Manchester, Kentucky to the late Howard and Evelyn
(Collins) Short on December 21, 1952.
On June 13,
1971 Charlie wed Carolyn Rader and together, they celebrated 50 years of
marriage. He was the owner of Athens Service Center in Lexington. He loved drag
racing, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Left to
cherish his memory is his loving wife, Carolyn; son, Charles “Cotton”
(Stephanie) Short, Jr.; grandchildren, Sydney, Lynsey, C.J., and Benjamin Short
as well as Paige Smith, and Haley Shelby; brothers, Howard Short, Jr. of
Lexington, KY and John Short of London, KY; sisters, Evelyn Jones and Brenda
Evans both of Richmond, KY; grandson-in-law, Jeremy Jent, and special nephews,
John Devon and Matthew Williams. In addition to his parents, his brother, Dan
Short, preceded Charlie in death.
Visitation
for Mr. Short will be Tuesday, October 26th, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at
Milward – Man O’War located at 1509 Trent Blvd. Funeral service will be Wednesday,
October 27th at 1:00 pm with Kenny King and Roger Ellis presiding.
Interment will follow in Athens Christian Church Cemetery in Lexington.

his legacy, memorial donations may be directed to Cleveland Clinic Sydell and
