             Mildred Jennings McKeown, 97, fondly known as Mimi by her family, passed away in Lexington Kentucky on November 8, 2021.  She was born in Lexington, Kentucky on June 5th, 1924 to Garnett Jennings and Theresa Bond McKenney, both of whom predeceased her.  Mildred attended the University of Kentucky where she was an Alpha Delta Pi.  Mildred had a career as a civil servant and was a lifetime member of the Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church.

 
              Mildred married Dr. Gene Lowrey in 1957.  Together they had their only child, Jill.  After Gene’s death she had two subsequent marriages to Clarence Jordan and Joseph McKeown, both of whom predeceased her.


               Mildred had a personality that endeared her to everyone she met.  She loved to make us laugh!  She was a wonderful mother, aunt and friend. 



               She was predeceased by her beloved twin, Martha Garnett Bach and her brother, Dr. Jerry McKenney.  She is survived by her daughter Jill Lowrey Burke and her brother, Lt. Colonel Tom C. McKenney, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.



                Visitation at Milward-Broadway, 159 N. Broadway in Lexington on Friday, November 12, from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, November 13th from 10:30 A.M. until the service begins at 12:00 noon.  Interment will be at Frankfort cemetery.              


          

                The family is appreciative of the loving care provided by Ashland Terrace Retirement Home and Sayre Christian Village Nursing Home.  Memorials can be sent to either establishment.
