William Cyril LaCroix, 79, passed away 11 June 2022.  He was surrounded by his family at Lexington Country Place Nursing Home.  Born 15 August 1942 in Diego Martin, on the island of Trinidad, Willie was the son of Cyril Van Buren and Margaret Boyd, and older brother to Gordon and older sister Edith.  He studied aeronautics and engineering in England and became a pilot flying pipeline surveys in the Caribbean and eventually crop-dusting missions here in the United States. After an airplane crash, and run-ins with the Secret Service, he married his future wife of 55 years, Catherine Ann Long of Delray Beach, FL.  He enlisted in the US Air Force as a communications and equipment specialist with postings in Little Rock, AR, the Republic of the Philippines, and the Republic of Korea.  After the Air Force, Willie started with AT&T as a network engineer in West Palm Beach, FL.  He retired from AT&T in 2002.  After retirement, he spent his time enriching the lives of those who needed help: he was an avid volunteer at Habitat for Humanity and as a Big Brother as part of Big Brother/Big Sisters.  A lifelong love of the air and sea, he spent many of his final years in Vero Beach, FL.

William is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his siblings and wife, Catherine Ann. He is also survived by his daughter Michele Terry and her husband Kevin Terry; son Kevin LaCroix and his wife Marie.  He loved his four grandchildren: Patrick and Amelia, son and daughter of Michele; and Nathan and Lauren, son and daughter of Kevin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday 14 June 2022 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Lexington, KY.  Visitation and prayer vigil will precede the Mass at 10am.

Arrangements are being made through Milward Funeral Directors, Lexington, KY.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or Habitat for Humanity.
