Elizabeth Atkins “Betsy” Green, 53 and loving wife of Sean P. Green passed away under hospice care on July 31, 2022. A Lexington native, she was born to Frank Hamilton Atkins II and Carol Ann Barnes Atkins on March 13, 1969. She was a member of Broadway Christian Church.
Betsy was a graduate of LaFayette High School (’87) and received a bachelor's degree from UK. She had a successful career in banking, having risen to the position of commercial loan assistant at Community Trust Bank.
Betsy was an avid UK Wildcats and Washington Nationals fan. She also loved music. Dear friends were dear to her. Most important to her were her children and time with her family.
In addition to her husband of 30 years and parents, Betsy is survived by her children, Jakob Patrick and Peyton Mariah Green; siblings, Bo (Ginger) Atkins and Jaime (Ken) Verba; and two nephews, Delk and Boone Verba. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Frank, Sr. and Lucille Atkins, James and Martha Barnes.
Special thanks are extended to Betsy’s aunt, Alma Jo McGuire, and cousin, Cindy Gosser, for the excellent care and comfort they provided to Betsy.
Services Thursday, Aug. 4th, Milward-Southland: visitation 12pm to 2pm; funeral 2pm. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Sean, Rene’ and I send our deepest sympathy to you, your children and all of Betsy’s family and friends. We are so sorry to hear about Netsy’s passing. Hoping that the memories you and Betsy shared will give you some peace and comfort during this difficult time.
My sweet friend Betsy, you are going to be so missed . The memories we shared watching Jakob and Fred at the ball field are some of my favorites! I love you dearly and will be seeing you again one day ! Love you!
