Johnny Ray Barnes 87, passed away in the late evening of Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Johnny was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, August 21, 1935 to the late Ethel (Blevins) and John Golden Barnes.


 

Johnny wed his high school sweetheart, Alice Smith, and together they celebrated 68 years of marriage. He was a Chemical Engineer graduate from Oklahoma University. John worked for Mobil Oil and retired as Vice President of Saudi Refining, Inc. He traveled and lived in many exotic locations with Alice. They began those adventures in Venezuela and continued them throughout his career; Saudi Arabia and Australia were highlights. Some of Johnny’s passions in life were working with wood and vintage vehicles.


 

Left to cherish Mr. Barnes memory is his wife, Alice; daughter, Deborah (Paul Kelley); son, Johnny Ray (Carol Vigstedt) Barnes, Jr; 9 grandchildren, Paul (Beata), Christine (Blake), Rachael, Matthew (Olivia), Mary, Emily (Jasper), Jeremy, Trevor (Kiara), Ethan; 9 great grandchildren, and his sisters, Golda Fay Frazee and Allie Lou Davis. In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his sister Carol. 


 

Visitation for Johnny will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Cathedral of Christ the King located at 229 Colony Blvd. in Lexington, KY. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am with interment in Calvary Cemetery to follow.
