William D. Hester

William D. Hester, 84, of Lexington, went home to be with the Lord after a brief illness. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William N. and Eva Tilford Hester. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Houston Hester; daughters Amy H. Kelly, Susan Hester and Anne H. Laumas; grandchildren Rhiannon Laumas, Ethan Hester and Cade Laumas; his “best girl” and fur baby, Molly; several cousins and a multitude of friends as well. Bill graduated from Valley High School, Louisville, Ky. and received a BS in business from the University of Kentucky. He worked many years for Rand McNally (later called World Color), Versailles, Kentucky and the Lexington Herald-Leader, Lexington. A good Christian man, dad loved the Lord and his family. He was a proud Democrat who loved to laugh, loved people, his country and keeping up with various sports, especially horse racing and the Kentucky Wildcats. He ran track in high school and ran in races for many years. Dad was a long-time member of Gardenside Baptist Church, Lexington.
Visitation is Wednesday, September 21, 5-7 at Milward on Southland. Graveside funeral will be Thursday the 22nd 11:00 at The Lexington Cemetery (section 44).
