Rose Marion Bell Kelly, 96, departed this life on November 20, 2022, after a short illness.  She was born in El Paso, Texas, on June 10, 1926.  Rose Marion was the eldest of three children born to Rosa Freeman Bell and Marvin Bell.  She received both her Bachelor and Master's degree from Texas Western College (UT El Paso) where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta.  After graduation, she became a teacher and later a principal in the El Paso School District.  After retirement, Rose Marion and her husband, David, moved to Lexington, Kentucky to be close to family.  Both in El Paso and Lexington she was active in many organizations including the American Association of University Women, National Society of Arts and Letters, Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames of America, the Woman's Club of Central Kentucky and a sustaining member of Delta Delta Delta.  

Rose Marion was a faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon for many years.

Among her many interests in life was her passion for painting.

Rose Marion was preceded in death by her husband Col. David C. Kelly, her parents, her sister Carolyn Robertson and her brother Marvin Bell, Jr.  She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth “Liz” and Don Rose; special son-in-law Robert S. Rose: stepson David (Mary) Kelly, Jr.; her brother-in-law Dr. John C. Robertson; grandchildren, Donald (Franzi) Rose, Christie (Tripp) Eckerline and Gwynne (Michael) Oser;  beloved nieces and nephews, John (Patti) Robertson, Cathy (Tom) Hanna, Tom (Laura) Robertson, Winfrey (Rob) Kirkpatrick, James Bell and Douglass (Pam) Bell; great-grandchildren, Vincent, Edward, Anna and Robert Rose, Rosie and Bell Eckerline and grand pups, Bucky, Charlie and Patrick; great nieces and nephews, John (Morgan) Robertson, Tyler (Maggie) Robertson, Tommy Robertson, Gabriela Robertson, Julie (Scott) Hoffmeister, Thomas Hanna, Robert Hanna, Mary Elizabeth Hanna and William, Emily and Caroline Host; numerous great nieces and nephews.  Also, the wonderful people on the 2nd floor of Mayfair Village who have loved and cared for Rose over several years.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 26, from 10:30 - 11:30 at Milward Funeral Home, 159 North Broadway, Lexington, KY.  Burial will follow at noon at the Lexington Cemetery.
