Rita Margaret Sprague, 99 and widow of James Alvah
“Jim” Sprague, passed away on January 12, 2023. She was born to the late Joseph
Pavick and Frances Bauer Pavick on December 29, 1923 in Crenshaw, PA. She was a
member of the Cathedral of Christ the King.
Rita served
honorably as a U.S. Army nurse during World War II, and achieved the rank of 2nd
Lt. After military service, she earned a B.A. in nursing from Jersey City State
College (NJ). She was a teaching and school nurse in New Jersey and transitioned
to being an excellent homemaker for her family in Lexington.
Rita is survived
by two sons, Michael (Joann) Sprague of Pittsburgh, PA and Paul (Oriana)
Sprague of Lexington; daughter-in-law, Susan Sprague; numerous grandchildren;
sister-in-law, June Pavick; and many cousins. In addition to her husband of 74
years and her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Steven Sprague,
and five siblings.
Services Thursday,
January 19th: Milward-Southland: visitation from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30
p.m.; Camp Nelson National Cemetery: graveside service at 2:30 p.m.

saysI knew Mrs. Sprague as the mother of dear friends. She was an amazingly gracious, intelligent, and sweet lady, and will be sorely missed. She was cherished by her family.
