Michael Johnson to Share Fond Memories
Marilyn “MeMe” Hamblin, 76, wife of Coy
Hamblin, passed away unexpectedly at UofL Health, Louisville. She was born to
the late Edward Stanley and Georgia Mae Perry Stanley on December 9, 1946 in
Wise, Virginia.
She earned a
bachelor’s degree from Berea College, where she met Coy during an eventful
snowball fight. She built a successful career as a healthcare recruiter at ARH
which she retired from so long ago that no one can remember the exact year.
MeMe was an avid
supporter of all things Tennessee Walking Horse and UK. Many football seasons
her and Coy spent hours in Commonwealth Stadium’s parking lot celebrating with
“The Monkey Club.”
Eighteen years
ago, all priorities changed with the arrival of grandson Walker. In recent
years, she could be found on Friday nights cheering on Walker and the Frederick
Douglass Football Broncos. Everyone at “The Farm” knew MeMe and she was there
no matter the weather. She was definitely his #1 Fan. Most of all, she is
remembered for her tireless devotion to family & friends. And quite
possibly an unhealthy obsession with buying shoes for Walker.
In addition to her
loving husband of 54 years, MeMe is survived by her Disney fanatic daughter,
Heather and Patriotic son in law Michael Johnson; three grandchildren, crafty Alicia
(Justin) Harris, fashionable Brittany (Bryan) Tillman, and the aforementioned
can do no wrong Walker Johnson; two great-grandchildren, car loving Easton and
Spiderman wannabe Grant Harris; one identical twin sister, Carolyn (Dwayne)
Brinegar; and one steadfast niece, Markley Brinegar.
A celebration of
life visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28th, from 1:00
p.m. until 3:00 p.m., at Milward-Man O War. Fond memories of MeMe will
be shared at 2:00 p.m. by Michael Johnson in the same venue on the 28th.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial contributions can be made to FDHS Football Boosters, P.O. Box 1545,
Lexington, KY 40588.

saysWhat a beautiful, special lady Marilyn was. I worked with her at ARH many years ago and still treasure the days in Recruitment. Her love of people was always evident. Her love for her daughter and Coy was also very obvious every day. I’m sure she is leaving a big hole in the lives of her loved ones, but I also feel like she has left you memories to last a lifetime!
