Garnet J. Given

Garnet J. Given, 83, of Polk City, FL, formerly of Charleston, WV,
passed away on May 15, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Garnet was born the youngest of six children to the late Don and
Daisy Jarrell in Pine Knob, WV on November 12, 1939.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her
husband Curtis Given, brother Donald Jarrell, and sisters Betty Powell and
Billie Bailey.
She attended Marsh Fork High School, received her undergraduate
degree at Concord College, and finished her Master's Degree at Western
Michigan. She worked for thirty-five years at Charleston Area Medical Center.
She remained a devout Christian throughout her life and kept active with
walking, making crafts, gardening, quilting, and caring for her family and
pets.
Garnet is survived by her loving children; daughter Elesse White,
son Curtis Given II, her grandchildren; Madalyn Given, Tanner Given, Caleigh
Given, their mother Chasity Given, and two siblings; Jerry Jarrell and Phyllis
Aquino.
Strong and resilient to the end, Garnet will forever be missed.
Friends and Family will be notified of memorial services at a
later date in Charleston, WV.
