Catherine M. (Kay) Yorke, 98, the beloved mother of Michele Kubeck and Kathleen Yorke passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at 12:18pm. Kay was born May 22, 1920 to the late John and Sophie (Janusz) Sharik in Meadowlands, Pennsylvania. She was the loving wife of John J. Yorke from 1940 until his passing in April of 2005. John and Kay were happily married for 65 years.
Kay was a devoted member of The Cathedral of Christ the King Church where she sang in the choir since 1973. Kay was a past member of The Women’s Club of Lexington and was involved with the Children’s Clothing Center. She sang in the Womens Club Follies and also did numerous singing engagements, at various functions and events, for many years. She loved to arrange flowers, play bridge, go ballroom dancing with her love, John. Her spirit was always joyful, ready to laugh and make everyone around her happy. Kay was always willing to help a family member or friend in need. Her generous heart was full of love and ready to share with everyone who had the pleasure to know her. Kay had a genuine interest in getting to know people and treated everyone with sincerity, patience, and graciousness. Most of all, she was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her gentle and beautiful spirit will be greatly missed, but live on in her family and friends.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kathleen Yorke and Michele (Thomas) Kubeck; grandchildren, Alexis (Michael) Logsdon, Sean Kubeck (Jessica), Daniel (Heather) Kubeck, and Thomas (Kristen) Kubeck, Jr., and great-grandchildren, Abagail, Emma, Madeline, Ryan, Graham, Olivia, Joseph, and Faith. In addition to her husband, Kay was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny, Edward, Frank, Bill, Ben, and Joe, and two sisters, Mildred and Virginia.
Kay’s family will be honored to receive friends on Friday, April 12th at The Cathedral of Christ the King located at 299 Colony Blvd, Lexington. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am - 11:00 am in the main cathedral. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. A Luncheon Reception gathering, for family and friends, will be held in Hehman Hall at Christ The King. The eulogy and sharing of stories about Kay will be welcome immediately following lunch. The burial procession for the Christian Burial at Lexington Cemetery will start at approximately 1:15 pm from Christ the King parking lot.
