It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Doris F Spalding at the age of 92. Doris was born to L. Owen and Myrtle L. French in Yantis, Texas on February 15, 1927. She had been married to James C. Spalding for over 74 years.  Doris met James (Buddy) while serving in WWII.

Doris was dedicated to her family and served her community as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Deacon at Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church. In her 20’s, Doris began working at Spalding’s Bakery until many years later opening “Mrs. Spalding and Daughter Cake Shop” where she served the community for an additional 10 years. In retirement, Doris enjoyed her backyard flower garden, quilting, solving puzzles and playing with her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her loving husband James C. Spalding,  sons Jim, John and daughter Suzanne.  She will be fondly remembered by her husband, children,  6 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sybill;  brother, Aubrey and great-grandchild, Hope Bunch .

Memorial donations in memory of Doris F. Spalding may be made to Sunrise of Kentucky, Kentucky’s largest nonprofit provider of services for children in crisis.  (https://www.sunrise.org/honor-memorial-giving/)

We will miss her kindness and generousity.
