Kenneth Russell “Corky” Harp was born on October 1, 1938 and passed away on July 8, 2019.  He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Penny Kemp Harp and two children, Jennifer (Jeff) Lackey and Steve (Michele) Harp, grandchildren, Amy (Jeremy) Latimer, Michael (Samantha) Harp, Stephanie Harp (fiancée Andrew), Holly Smith, and Brad Harp, and great-grandchildren, Penelope Latimer, Adeline Latimer, and Micah Harp.  He is also survived by his sister Joan (Kenneth) Hobday and brother Gene (Ann) Harp.

Ken’s greatest passion was attending all events his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in, including tee-ball, Little League, Babe Ruth, and traveling baseball, softball, track and swim meets, volleyball games, dance recitals, dance team performances, and marching band contests and concerts.

Ken also loved coaching Babe Ruth Baseball and coached the Southeastern Babe Ruth team to their first State Championship.

He will be missed by his family, especially his great-granddaughter Penelope, who when asked, always emphatically stated she was Papaw’s girl.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his friends from Panera and Donut Days: Howard Coleman, Tom Darr, Dr. Tom Miller, Bud Berry, Don Helregel, Jim Gillum, Bob Barnes, Greg Fields, and Doug Quinn.

Visitation Friday, July 12, 2019 from 6pm until 8pm, Milward-Southland.  Funeral Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 11am, also at Milward-Southland. Burial will follow at Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
