Clifford A. Simpson, 92, of Nicholasville, passed away on August 16, 2019.  He was born to the late Calvin Daniel Simpson and Emma Saylor Simpson on March 26, 1927 in Harlan County, KY.  He was a U.S. Marines WWII veteran. A member of Rosemont Baptist Church, he also was a volunteer at Bluegrass Hospice Care and a member of the Bell House Choir.  Clifford enjoyed traveling and especially loved gardening and yard work. During the last few years, he acquired the nickname Dadeo from the many people who loved him.  He will be dearly missed.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Gertie Partin Simpson, in 1988, and by his second wife Mary Leann Landers Sparks Simpson, in 2018; and siblings: Aubrey Simpson, Nola Greenhill, Orville Simpson, H.K. Simpson, Gladys Brock, Ruby Neal, and Guinable Roaden.


He is survived by his son Randy M. (Maxine) Simpson; siblings, E.C. Simpson and Jeanette Parker; grandsons, Kyle Christopher (Michelle) Smith and Kenneth Reimondo Wireman; great-grandchildren: Kyleigh and Ava and Kenneth T. and Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by four step-children, Steve (Gail) Sparks, Mary Tom (Ken) Hudgens, Teresa (Derrick) Penick, and Thomas “Ed” Sparks.


Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Milward-Southland: Visitation from 10:30-12:30, Masonic Service at 12:30, Funeral at 1pm. Burial will follow at Lexington Cemetery, and will include military honors from the U.S. Marine Corps.


Memorial donations may be to Bluegrass Hospice Care.
