Mr. Whitney Lee Moore Johnson, Sr. age 79 expired on September 12, 2019.  He was born on July 8, 1940 in Paris, Bourbon County, Kentucky to the late John Thomas Johnson, Sr. and the late Minnie Turner Johnson.


At an early age he confessed a hope in Christ and joined the First Baptist Church in Paris, Kentucky under the pastorate of the late Rev. Sterling Beverly.  When he moved to Lexington he joined the Greater Liberty Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Albert B. Lee. He was a faithful follower of Christ until he departed this life.


He retired from LexTran were he was a city Bus Driver for 22 years, he was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the University of Kentucky Alumni Association.  He leaves to mourn his two sons Whitney (Amanda) Johnson, Jr., Samuel Cole and three daughters, Lashonda Johnson, Dana Moussa and Monica (Brian) Jones. He also leaves six granddaughters Amber Willis, Ashton Johnson, Addison Johnson, Janine Cole, Jada Cole, Marquista Williams and five grandsons Donovan Jones, Andrew Jones, Hamdallah Moussa, Logan Puckett and Kaden Johnson.  He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Anna Carten and two brothers James Richard Johnson, Sr. and John Thomas Johnson, Jr. He leaves behind a host of cherished great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family members and special friends including Monica Johnson.


Mr. Johnson’s services will occur at Milward-Broadway on Tuesday, September 17, 2019: Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed immediately by the Funeral at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will take place at the Lexington Cemetery.
