AC Jones passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 in the company of family members. AC was born on May 16, 1930 in Wheeler, Kentucky. He was the son of T. Jones and Allie Mae Davis Jones.
AC was an Army veteran who was stationed in Germany in 1951 and 1952. He worked as a welder and later as manager of E and L Transport in Hamilton, Ohio. After retirement he worked for many years as a security guard at Overbrook farm. AC enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his wife Glessie, his four daughters, his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. AC was a quiet man who possessed a dry sense of humor and was always ready to help with a gift, a strong back or an encouraging word.
AC was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Glessie Crawford Jones; parents T Jones and Allie Mae Davis Jones; siblings Ruby, Dale, Betty Jean, Paul and Wanda Faye. In addition to his many friends, he leaves daughters Brenda Holbrook (Jack), Linda Gross (Jim), Sheila Powers (Jerry, deceased) Sherry Shoemaker (Charley), 6 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at Milward Funeral Home on Southland Drive on Monday, September 23. Visitation will be from 11:30 to 1:30 followed by a funeral service at 1:30. Interment will be at Lexington Cemetery.
Brenda, Sherry and family. I am so sorry to hear of your fathers passing. It’s always hard to say goodbye to our parents. Your father was a war hero and sounded like a wonderful man. He certainly raised a wonderful daughter! God bless you and your family. Love from the Yancer’s.
