W. Jean Hughes Hitchner, 68, passed away while surrounded by her loved ones Sunday, November 3, 2019. Jean was born in Prestonsburg, Kentucky on September 10, 1951 to Wade and Barbara (Burchwell) Daniels.

 

Jean obtained her Associates Degree in Law Enforcement at Eastern Kentucky University and earned a second degree in Criminal Justice at the University of Kentucky. She was the first female patrol officer in Lexington in the 1970’s. Jean was very proud of this achievement and took her time in law enforcement seriously and with great honor.

 

She was wed to Mr. Stanley F. Hitchner on July 27, 1993 in Lexington and together, they celebrated 26 years of marriage.

 

In addition to her loving husband, Stanley, Jean is survived by her mother, Barbara Faye Daniels; brother, Gary R. (Ruth Ann) Daniels; sisters, Deanne (Russell) Daniels, Teresa Gale Daniels, Donna R. Daniels, and Rhonda (Jerry) Daniels Conner, and 10 nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her father, Wade Daniels.

 

Family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Thursday, November 7th at Milward – Man O’War located at 1509 Trent Blvd., Lexington.  Funeral service will commence at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 8th with Jim Woolums to officiate at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Robert Allen Dargavell, Stacy Ann Dargavell, Philip Wade Conner, Kyle Dylan Conner, Jay Cameron Conner, Gary Tyler Daniels, Cathryne "Catie" Carlye Daniels, and Jordan Taylor Barnes.
