Jeanette Jones Drake
Monday 7th of September 1936 - Friday 10th of January 2020
Jeanette Jones Drake, widow of Charles Coleman “Tut” Drake passed away January 10, 2020.
Formerly of Winchester, KY, she was the twin daughter of the late William Meriwether Jones, Jr and Nancy Randol Jones, and a graduate of the 1954 Class of Clark County High School. She also attended Transylvania College.
Jeanette was preceded in death by each of her siblings and their spouses William M. “Wickie” Jones, III (Barbara), Eleanor Jones Shields (John Robert) and Josephine Jones McIntire (Bill). She is survived by her brother-in law Dr. Robert M. Drake, Jr (Georgia).
Jeanette has several nieces and nephews who enjoyed her company and helped care for her in recent years. She enjoyed her many friends and the staff at The Lafayette and the family appreciates the excellent care she received at Lexington Country Place and the care received from the Hospice team of Bluegrass Care Navigators. She and her husband lived at their home on Mason Headley for many years. Jeanette loved working in the yard and tending to her many flowers. In the Fall she would “rather clean up the leaves and acorns than to eat when hungry.” She had many memorable sayings including … “Anyone who has walking around sense will know … “, “Hell-o pete”, “For heavens sake”, “Great day in the morning”, “I’ll swan”, “Sweetheart”, “Thank you kindly”, “Please and thank you”. If you knew Jeanette, you would receive a big hug every time you saw her. Jeanette and Tut enjoyed playing golf at Spring Lake Country Club (now Spring Valley). In recent years, she enjoyed various outings with her church family at First Christian Church. She also had an affinity for the Irish Tenors.
In lieu of flowers, Jeanette has requested memorial contributions to First Christian Church, 1305 Audubon Avenue, Lexington, KY 40503.
The Funeral Service will be at 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Milward-Southland, (391 Southland Dr., Lexington, KY 40503). Joe Cooper will officiate. Pallbearers are Willie Jones, Mickey O’Bryan, Mark McIntire, Matt McIntire, Nathan McIntire, Carter McIntire, and Cole McIntire. Visitation will be from 4:00pm - 7:00pm on Tuesday, January 14 also at Milward-Southland. Burial will be at Lexington Cemetery following the Funeral Service.
She was loved by many. So sorry for her families loss.

Rest in peace my dear friend. I will miss our Sunday evening phone calls to share events of the week. Please give Janet a great big hug when you see her. Perhaps you will be doing the Lord's work together. That would be nice,
