Judith D. Lowery, 77, passed away in the late morning of Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Judi was born to the late Mark and Margaret (Evans) Mefford in Lexington, Kentucky on November 19, 1942. She was wed to Vernon Lowery on March 31, 1978. Together, they celebrated 26 years of marriage until his passing on August 13, 2004.

Mrs. Lowery served many roles in the PTA of Fayette County Public schools for over 25 years. Judi volunteered and enjoyed many years serving in the role of "cookie mom" and scout leader with the Girl Scouts. She was a talented wedding cake maker and baker, a gift that was passed down from her mom. Mrs. Lowery had fond memories of motorcycling across the state of Kentucky with her late husband and she often spoke of how beautiful our state was when viewed on the back of the motorcycle. She gave of her time unselfishly through the years as care giver to many of her family members in need. The love for her family was immeasurable and she enjoyed spending time with them and spoiling her grandchildren with "junk food". Although she was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan, she always had a sweet spot in her heart for Coach Rick Pitino. This caused many house divided game days, but her love for "Ricky" would not stop her for cheering his team on. Lastly, Judi was a child of God, and cherished her relationship with God and her Catholic faith. Although her family grieves her passing, they celebrate the gift of a heavenly afterlife she so graciously earned.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved children, Tonya Gardner, Stephanie Webb, and Tony (Brenda) Selby; brother, Frank (Susan) Mefford; grandchildren, Tasha, Gabrielle, Chelsea, Barry Jr., Amanda, Jason, Chad, Brandy, and Russell, and twenty great-grandchildren. Judi is also survived by her dear friends with whom she forged very close and long-lasting relationships over the years. In addition to her parents and husband, Vernon, Judi was preceded in death by her son, Brack Selby; brothers, Mark Stephen Mefford,  John Logan Mefford, and Robert Mefford; sister, Leta Berryman, and uncle, Bill Evans.

Family will receive friends for visitation Monday, February 17th from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Milward – Broadway located at 159 N. Broadway, Lexington. Funeral mass will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 18th at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 501 W. Short Street, Lexington with committal service afterwards in Calvary Cemetery. A reception will commence at Milward - Man O'War located at 1509 Trent Blvd., from 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm following the interment. The family will provide the main course and encourage guests to contribute a side dish to share along with stories, memories, and a true celebration of Judi's life.
