Mrs. Rose Anna Leibee
Saturday 4th of February 1928 - Sunday 26th of July 2020
Rose Anna Meade Leibee, adored wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, died Sunday, July 26 at The Willows Citation following a short illness. Rose Anna, daughter of the late James Joseph and Anna Virginia Meade, was born on February 4, 1928. She was the fifth of five children and she was predeceased by her brothers, James and Jerry Meade and by her sisters, Reata Gregory and Annetta Huffman.
Rose Anna graduated from Huntington High School in 1946, the same year she met Joe Leibee. They were married on May 27, 1949 and remained so until his death in 2011. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cheri Leibee Campbell and her son in law, John Campbell.
Rose Anna is survived by and will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Suzanne Leibee, her grandson, Morgan Campbell (Emily) and her granddaughter, Christina Campbell. Morgan and Christina called her Meemaw and she delighted in the fact that all of their friends called her by that name.
A loving Aunt, she is survived by four nephews – Joe Andrews, Steve Andrews, Jim Meade and Roger Boone and by five nieces – Anna Kroll, Rosemary Phillips, Anne Dotts, Sandy Funk and Danielle Shearer. She enjoyed their calls, letters, cards and visits.
Rose Anna was a member of the Meadowthorpe Presbyterian Church and of the Central Kentucky Women’s Club. She enjoyed movies, music, travel and gardening. Attending A Grand Night for Singing with her daughter was a favorite outing. In 2012, she found the four legged love of her life, Mimi, a dog that stole her heart.
Her ready laugh and sense of humor will be missed. She loved her family fiercely and particularly enjoyed Christmas – a holiday that will be forever changed.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm on July 29, 2020 followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Blue Grass Care Navigators, (1733 Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY 40504) or the Lexington Humane Society, (1600 Old Frankfort Pike, Lexington, KY 40504). The family would like to thank Extra Care staff, Tazana Denson and Sherry Van Zandt, the staff at the Willows Citation and the Bluegrass Care Navigators Silver Team for the excellent care they provided.
Loved the video. What a beautiful lady she was. I never realized how much you & Cheri looked like your mom!!!!! I’m sure she will be greatly missed but I firmly believe you will see her - your dad & Cheri again:)
Susie, Steve and I both loved your mom and dad. We enjoyed coming to Ashland on Friday nights with Dad when he and Joe went to the gun club. The four of us kids all had a good time together! After you moved to Lexington and Mom and I would come to visit and we always went to opening day at Keeneland twice a year! We loved that!! Well, they are all together again and having lots of fun!!! Robin
