Marita Goodin Hill (Marita), widow of Clement Samuel Hill (Clem) surrounded by her children closed a beautiful life of 97 years on Saturday, January 2, 2021. Born to Joseph Lee and Alma Abell Goodin on July 24, 1923 in Lebanon, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her husband Clem, her husband of 61 years. She was a graduate of Ursuline College in Louisville, Kentucky and a member of the Cathedral of Christ the King. She was a member of the Lexington Country Club and Spindletop Hall. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed all of her many friends in those activities. Throughout the years she was active in many civic and charitable organizations, including most recently Meals on Wheels, and the prayer network at her church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and treasured friend.
Mimi, as she was affectionately known by her family, is survived by her children, Dr. Joseph Lee Hill (Lucy), Charlotte Hill Turner (Darby), Marita (Rita) Goodin Hill (her special friend, Lyle Howard); four grandchildren, Dr. Joseph Lee Hill, Jr. (Cecilia), Dr. Branham Wilson Hill (Freya), Charlotte Turner McCoy (Mike), Job Darbin Turner, IV (Carolina); six great grandchildren, Joseph Lee Hill, III, Shelby McKay Hill, Mary Barber Hill, Henry Branham Hill, Elizabeth Charlotte McCoy, Catherine Anne McCoy; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Evelyn Crume, Nancy Lovett, Mary Alma Elder, and brothers Thomas A. Goodin, Charles R. Goodin, Joseph Lee Goodin, Robert L. Goodin, John R. Goodin and James F. Goodin. Her family and friends are blessed to have so many precious memories of Mimi. She is loved by all. She will be missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of Christ the King on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 2:45, visitation at 1:45 p.m. at the Cathedral with burial to follow at Calvary cemetery. Due to current Covid concerns, visitation and the service will be limited only to immediate family members. However, the service will be streamed live - cathedralCTK.org/howtostream. In honor of her legacy Memorial Contributions (in lieu of flowers) may be made to the Cathedral of Christ the King, 299 Colony Boulevard, Lexington, Kentucky 40502.
Lee, Charlotte and Rita, I was saddened to hear about the passing of Aunt Marita. She always had a smile and kind words to share. Prayers for all!
